The National Association of Realtors' membership numbers hit a record high in October, climbing to 1.41 million, according to the industry news site HousingWire.
NAR's previous record was 1.37 million members in October 2006. The group's numbers plummeted following the financial crisis two years later, which was sparked by a wave of foreclosures. NAR hit a low of 963,455 members in March 2012 before climbing upward again, HousingWire reported.
Georgia, Alabama and Idaho experienced the biggest recent gains in membership, with each state reporting an increase of more than 6% since October of last year.
Real estate agents and brokers who belong to NAR are the only housing professionals who can use the term Realtor, which is trademarked to the association, the news site noted. http://bit.ly/2NE9rUF
